New Homes Proposed
Across the Wider Stratford Area
More than 17,360 new homes are proposed around Stratford-upon-Avon through the South Warwickshire Local Plan.
These houses could accommodate around 36,500 people, more than the current population of Stratford-upon-Avon (120%).
Add the neighbouring Cotswold Local Plan (Mickleton and Moreton-in-Marsh), and the total rises to more than 19,500 new homes, equivalent to building another Stratford-upon-Avon, plus an extra third again.

South Stratford (STR.2)
Within the wider growth strategy, the proposed STR.2 allocation lies immediately south of Stratford-upon-Avon and directly borders Trinity Mead.
At 2,727 new homes, the proposed development is approximately four times the size of Trinity Mead, making it one of the largest strategic housing allocations in the South Warwickshire Local Plan.

SHAPE recognises that new homes are needed and that communities must evolve over time. Our concern is not with housing itself, but with ensuring that major developments are supported by robust evidence, appropriate infrastructure and a planning process that is fair, transparent and sustainable.
We've reviewed the Local Plan and supporting evidence and identified a number of issues that we believe deserve careful consideration during the consultation, including transport, infrastructure, environmental impacts, the assessment of alternatives and the delivery of strategic infrastructure.
Our aim is simply to help residents understand the proposals, explore the available evidence and submit informed representations of their own.

This is your final opportunity to comment on the South Warwickshire Local Plan before it is submitted for independent examination.
The consultation closes on 8 September 2026. Consultation responses will be submitted alongside the Local Plan and considered by the independent Planning Inspector during the Examination in Public.
