THE SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE LOCAL PLAN
Understanding the Plan
The South Warwickshire Local Plan will shape where new homes, employment, infrastructure and green spaces are developed across Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick districts until 2050.
WHAT IS A LOCAL PLAN?
The blueprint for future development
What is it?
Every local planning authority must prepare a Local Plan. It sets out where new homes, employment land, transport improvements and other development should take place over the coming decades.
Once adopted, planning applications are normally decided in accordance with the Local Plan.
What does it include?
- 🏠 Housing allocations
- 💼 Employment land
- 🚗 Roads and transport
- 🏥 Schools and healthcare
- 🌳 Green space and biodiversity
- ⚡ Climate and sustainability policies

WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Stage 3: Regulation 19 Consultation
➜ Regulation 19 Consultation (You are here)
This is the final opportunity for residents, organisations and statutory consultees to submit formal representations before the Local Plan is submitted to the Government for independent examination.
At this stage, the Planning Inspector will consider whether the Local Plan is legally compliant and sound.
WHY WE CREATED THIS WEBSITE
Helping residents engage with the planning process
SHAPE believes South Warwickshire needs new homes, including more affordable housing.
However, we believe parts of the current draft Local Plan raise important questions about transport, infrastructure, sustainability and whether alternative options have been properly considered.
Our aim is not to tell people what to think. Instead, we want to help residents understand the Local Plan, review the available evidence and submit informed representations during the Regulation 19 consultation.
